The JESCHKELANGER STUDIO was founded in 2016 by the two artists Marie Jeschke and Anja Langer. Since the beginning of their collaboration in 2016, their exploratory works circulate around the material glass. With this shared fascination for glass, they create functional artworks in which forgotten materials are brought into focus.
In 2018, they came across the tons of glass production leftovers in the glass industry and were immediately enchanted by the idea of giving these glass remnants a new life. Using these glass pieces and their own cast stone formulations, Jeschkelanger have developed their own material composite: BASIS RHO.

Jeschkelangers' continuously growing glass archive forms the color palette of the artist duo. The archive encompasses an innumerable spectrum of colors and shapes; it represents the artistic media of the two artists. Each new work is defined by its own glass color and shape palette. Like brush strokes, the duo precisely places the glasses in the formwork prepared for casting. This creates works of painting-like quality that become floors, walls, furniture, overall room interiors and objects.
“For us, every artwork we form out of BASIS RHO is a permeable painting that can be transfered into architectural spaces as a designed surface.”
